MetaMask export format

🔒 CSV conversion runs in your browser — files are not uploaded

This is the format reference for MetaMask wallet (Etherscan-family export) — where the file comes from, what each column means, and the export quirks that matter. Our parser reads the layout(s) below and converts it in your browser.

Layout evidence: MetaMask ships no CSV export — its docs direct users to explorer exports. The parsed layout is the Etherscan-family export (same engine as etherscan-csv) — see research/parser-fixture-validation-2026-10.md.

How to export the file

  1. There is no "Export CSV" inside MetaMask — open the block explorer for your chain (Etherscan for Ethereum mainnet, BscScan, PolygonScan, …).
  2. Paste your MetaMask 0x… address, open the Transactions or Token Transfers tab, and click "Download CSV Export" at the bottom of the table.
  3. Keep the 0x… address in the downloaded file name — direction is read from it.

Explorer export (the file MetaMask users actually produce)

Four export kinds — transactions, internal txns, ERC-20 transfers, NFT transfers — share the Etherscan-family layout.

ColumnWhat it means
Txhash / UnixTimestamp / DateTimeTxid and both timestamp shapes.
From / ToCounterparties — direction resolved via the filename address.
Value_IN(ASSET) / Value_OUT(ASSET) / TxnFee(ASSET)Direction-split native value and gas (transactions export).
TokenValue / ContractAddress / TokenSymbolToken leg identity (transfers export).
StatusNon-empty = failed tx → fee-only spend.
