Form 1099-DA export format

reference — converter in development

This is the format reference for Form 1099-DA PDF — where the file comes from, what each column means, and the export quirks that matter. The converter for this format is still in development; the reference below documents the layout itself.

Layout evidence: Box layout per the official IRS form (irs.gov f1099da.pdf), documented in research/parser-fixture-validation-2026-10.md — issuer PDFs are custom-styled.

How to export the file

  1. Open your broker’s tax center — Coinbase → Statements, Kraken → Documents, Gemini → Tax Documents, etc.
  2. Download the Form 1099-DA PDF for the tax year — the full form, not an activity summary.
  3. Keep the PDF as issued — do not print-to-PDF or copy tables into a spreadsheet (layout is what extraction reads).
