Convert a 1099-DA to TXF for TurboTax Desktop
in developmentTurboTax Desktop imports TXF files, not PDFs — so the 1099-DA in your inbox can’t go straight in, even though the IRS already has the proceeds. This converter is planned to read the form and emit a spec-valid TXF (V042, Form 8949 records) that TurboTax Desktop, TaxAct, and H&R Block accept.
Status: planned — it depends on the server-side PDF extractor. The TXF writer itself is already live and tested.
Why this page exists
Every (source × target) pair gets its own working converter page. This pair is queued: f1099da-pdf → txf. PDF sources additionally need the server-side extraction endpoint (NEEDS-SERVER).
Working today: Binance CSV → Koinly, Coinbase CSV → TXF, Koinly CSV → TXF. See the full list.
FAQ
Does TurboTax Online accept TXF?
No. TXF imports into the Desktop (CD/download) editions of TurboTax, plus TaxAct and H&R Block. TurboTax Online uses its own crypto import flow — a TXF file won't upload there.
Will cost basis carry into the TXF?
Whatever the form prints carries over. For 2025 1099-DAs that’s usually proceeds only, so basis fields emit blank per the TXF spec and your software flags them for entry — numbers are never invented.
What if the form has no acquisition date?
The record emits “Various” for date acquired, which the TXF spec allows. Holding-period classification happens in your tax software after import.
When will it be available?
It's in the adapter queue — the page goes live once its remaining adapter ships, verified against a real export. Until then it stays marked planned and out of search indexes.
