Convert a Koinly CSV to TXF for TurboTax Desktop

working converter
🔒 Files stay in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Koinly gives you a CSV; TurboTax Desktop imports TXF — and TurboTax’s online crypto import no longer takes arbitrary CSVs. Drop your Koinly transaction export below and get a spec-valid TXF (V042, Form 8949 records) that TurboTax Desktop, TaxAct, and H&R Block read. Conversion runs entirely in your browser — the file is never uploaded.

How to get the file: Koinly → Tax Reports → download the transaction/CSV export.

How it works

  1. Export the file from your exchange or tool (Koinly → Tax Reports → download the transaction/CSV export.).
  2. Drop it above — the parser identifies the format and shows every transaction.
  3. Check the preview and notes, then download the TXF (TurboTax Desktop) file.
  4. Import it into your tax software and verify the totals.

FAQ

Does TurboTax Online accept TXF?

No. TXF imports into the Desktop (CD/download) editions of TurboTax, plus TaxAct and H&R Block. TurboTax Online uses its own crypto import flow — a TXF file won't upload there.

What about cost basis?

Koinly’s universal CSV carries no per-lot basis or acquisition dates, so those TXF fields emit blank or “Various” per spec — your software flags them for entry. Nothing is invented.

Which rows end up in the TXF?

Only reportable disposals: sells and crypto-to-crypto trades. Buys, deposits, withdrawals, rewards, and fees aren’t Form 8949 items — the notes tell you how many rows were skipped.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No — parsing, conversion, and the download all run in this tab with JavaScript. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

What are the free limits?

The preview shows every parsed row. Downloads are complete for files up to 100 transactions; larger files download the first 25 rows. A paid pack removes the cap.

Does this calculate my taxes or gains?

No — it converts your data into the format the target software imports. Gain/loss math happens in your tax software. Verify totals after import.
